Atlanta Earth Day Cleanup Challenge 2015 April 3, 2015

This month will mark the 45th observance of Earth Day. In celebration of our earth – and our city – the City of Atlanta, U.S. EPA Region 4 and other community partners have joined forces to host the Earth Day Cleanup Challenge, on Wednesday, April 22, 2015.

At 12:00 noon, there will be a kickoff rally at the Sam Nunn Atlanta Federal Center. Egypt, Sherrod, author of “Keep Calm…It’s Just Real Estate: Your No-Stress Guide to Buying a Home” and CEO of the Atlanta based “Egypt Sherrod Real Estate Group”, will host the rally. U.S. EPA Region 4 Administrator Heather McTeer Talley and Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed will provide a special announcement about Atlanta’s recent milestone environmental achievements.

The cleanup is a service opportunity open to City and federal employees —to get out and clean up a concentrated area within the City limits. We encourage community members to select their own neighborhood projects and share those via our social media channels. Atlanta City Council districts have submitted projects demonstrating the need and interest from community members to provide off season maintenance and upkeep.

  • Volunteers will pick up litter and also tackle some of Atlanta’s community wish lists of beautification projects, such as tree planting, invasive species clearing, landscaping and more.
  • Partners will provide residents with free home energy assessments, energy use tips, water savings kits, and pick up hard to recycle materials.

Power 96.1 – Atlanta’s # Hit Music Station will be providing on-site promotion for rally participants.
