Comprehensive Development Plan April 17, 2013

Ordinance to adopt a comprehensive development plan for the City of Atlanta and adopt the Atlanta Beltline Master Plan to govern growth, redevelopment, and zoning for the City of Atlanta as we continue to grow and expand.

Key Points

  • Comprehensive development plans encouraged planned growth and limit unwanted urban sprawl
  • The City of Atlanta places a focus on redeveloping old buildings and areas to encourage revitalization
  • The Atlanta Beltline, adopted in this ordinance, will eventually be a 22 mile loop on reclaimed rail tracks around the City that connects 45 in-town Atlanta neighborhoods
  • As we move forward as a City, our development plans serve as a foundation creating more liveable neighborhoods, addressing transit issues, boosting economic values, and generally allowing for more sustainable growth.
